Here’s a fun project I did during my vacation on Vancouver Island. It’s a 3D model of the rear side of Hatley Castle made from the technique of photogrammetry.
I did a really quick 11-minute capture, producing around 560 photos that were imported into Reality Capture and aligned and processed into a 3D model. There’s no post-processing, simplification or cleanup done.
The shown model is 40 million triangles, and so without further decimating the model I dare not texturize it. The colours/textures you’re seeing is straight from vertex colours, meaning there is way more detail to be projected onto the model if I spent the time.
